The ability to read, write and do simple airthematic
calculations shows the Primary education status of a
country. The scenario of Primary education in Orissa is
unfortunately not so good. According to ASER 06 report, 9.1%
of the total children are yet to come to school. ASER 07
showed a decrease of 8%. In the above scenario an
organization like Pratham Orissa which is devoted to the
cause to ensuring age level educational efficiency amongst
the children in the age group of 6-14 yrs is very important.
Keeping the above facts in mind Pratham started its
operation in the State of Orissa in the year 2003 in the
slums of Cuttack. For the last 6 months the organization had
been working intensly in 192 blocks of 26 districts also
better known as ‘Read Orissa Campaign’. As part of the
campaign a summer camp ‘PADHA ORISSA GADHA ORISSA’ movement
is in progress, which is designated to be held in all the
51,000 villages of Orissa. The camps are slated to start
from 1st June -30th June during the summer vacations.
Innovative Teaching learning Materials have been developed
which has already reached a major part of the State. A team
of approx 50,000 volunteers are involved in the venture to
ensure that every child of the village virtually attains
minimum educational efficiency.
If you feel responsible for you have the determination and
inclination to ensure that the children of your area attain
the minimum educational efficiency, something which is their
right and which is essential if India has to move a step
forward for attaining the status of a developed country, do
feel free to talk to our people and be a part of the vast
campaign
